Coronavirus, the hoax of hot drinks: they are useless against contagion

To protect yourself from the coronavirus, just consume hot drinks often: according to this theory, tea, herbal teas, broths and even simple hot water would be able to “neutralize the virus”. This is one of the messages that, in these weeks of a health emergency, are circulating on social networks and via WhatsApp, the food fact writes. But, as the scientific journalist Roberta Villa explains on the FNOMCeO (National Federation of Orders of Surgeons and Dentists) anti-hoax website, beating the coronavirus is not so simple.

The human body normally has a temperature of around 37 ° C, which, according to this bizarre theory, would be more than enough to kill the coronavirus and therefore prevent infection: but then how can the thousands of COVID-19 patients be explained then only in our country? In any case, explains the Villa, considering that even hot ones are not able to alter body temperature, it is highly unlikely that drinking hot drinks will have any effect on the lungs, where coronavirus lurks.
