TEMPO Networks, Founded by Frederick A. Morton, Jr., Is on a Mission to Elevate Caribbean Culture to the Skies

TEMPO Networks is a dream come true for Frederick A. Morton, Jr. one of the most accomplished corporate attorneys and most successful entrepreneurs in the US. Since his childhood days, he felt something amiss in his life when it came to entertainment. He used to travel with his parents from St.Croix to their home island, Nevis, and other parts of the Caribbean and see the vastness of regional culture and local art. However, to his dismay, these things weren’t to be found on the television screen.

As a child, he wished there to be a channel that would represent the richness of his native country as well as other islands that comprised the Caribbean. Keeping that burning desire in his heart, he grew up and eventually landed in the legal field, where he excelled and soon was counted among the best corporate attorneys in the US. Going down the road, he worked at a prestigious law firm and fortune 50, until he made it to MTV. And that was it. He now could allay that burning desire in his heart by going after his dream.

Hence, in 2005, TEMPO Networks, the television channel solely dedicated to all things Caribbean, finally appeared on the TV screens throughout the Caribbean and the US and, in just a short span of time, contributed greatly to the marketing and promotion of the region.

To have a comprehensive idea of the impact TEMPO had on the Caribbean, let’s dive into what it has accomplished throughout its journey of 17 years.

Since the launch of TEMPO Networks, the region has observed a spike in domestic travel. With quality tourism content produced for the shows like My TEMPO Trip, Downtown Island, Rise and Shine and many others that present the breathtaking beauty and culture of the Caribbean, many around the region and world were tempted to scatter themselves into the unseen, untouched, and unobserved corners of the Caribbean to enjoy the time of their lives.

Moreover, TEMPO didn’t only boost travel in the region but also extended a helping hand to local talent as well. It provided much-needed exposure and opportunity to the Caribbean artists that later became a foundation stone for their wonderful careers. Rihanna, the famous Barbadian singer, actress, fashion designer, and businesswoman, is one of them. TEMPO emerged to be a launching pad for many underrepresented and often neglected artists.

The channel, via its entertainment shows, i.e., Live & Direct, Inside the Rhythm, and On De Stage, took the local Caribbean music, dance, and art to the next level and promoted local artists on the big screen.

Today, the company is planning to launch its streaming app, which might prove to be a golden goose for the entire region. There are many other things we may keep bragging about TEMPO Networks and what it has achieved in the last decade, but we shouldn’t forget that behind everything that TEMPO is today stands an unwavering man, Frederick A, Morton, Jr., whose determination and astonishing life story have prompted many Caribbean youths to start again dreaming those dreams they’d stopped long ago.

It’s safe to say then that the sons and daughters of the Caribbean are proud of their fellow countryman, Frederick A. Morton, Jr.
