Certain plans in life never pan out to take the route we once envisioned some years back. We make elaborate plans and goals, hoping that what we actually want to achieve resonates with us entirely. But plans change, and a route you believed you were destined for becomes a distant memory. Sue De Chiara envisioned such a route for herself and changed her plan along the way. Now she is embarking on a journey, connecting herself to what truly makes her Sue De Chiara.
With all its unpredictability, life led Sue to go down an unexpected path towards a destination that bore great fruits of accomplishment. Before moving and settling in Connecticut, Sue was a New York resident practicing law. It all changed when she decided that her life was more than just running from the office back home. She wanted to change her mundane routine of 8 years being a real-estate lawyer.
When Sue moved to Connecticut, she started experimenting with different home decorating ideas. She created her own blog in 2009, working and providing great insight and tricks on home decor and refurbishing ideas. Being new to social media, Sue made her mark and learned the art of online marketing on her own. This evolved into establishing her social media presence and reaching out to more people through ‘The Zhush’.
Sue is a living example that home decor and adding your own creative touch to your home does not require an interior design/art degree. All you need is motivation and an idea. Her work as a home decor enthusiast and lifestyle blogger landed her work as a part-time contributor and Home Editor at a luxury lifestyle magazine, Bedford & Canaan Magazine. Other than working for such a platform, Sue has acquired great sponsorship deals from eminent names in the market, such as Hoover, Tula, and Neiman Marcus.
When Sue started to blog about home decor, she decided to run an e-commerce company alongside her blog. Operated between 2010 and 2016, this e-commerce business provided her with a great platform to sell small home decor items, which reached numerous customers. It was also a fruitful endeavor, rewarding her with great press and a small shout-out on the Today Show. However, it was short-lived due to the amount of work it required.
Sue’s initial passion was to create a blog, decorate living spaces, and suggest ideas on the internet. Running an e-commerce company was rewarding but didn’t give her the same rush blogging did. What has caused Sue to reach such heights is her transparency. She has always been sure of what she wants and remained faithful to blogging when she realized her real passion. Sue’s eventual long-term plan changed, and she decided to choose a path hoping to unleash her creativity.
