How does it really feel to be infected with coronavirus?

The coronavirus continues to be the main theme of our day to day. The number of infected people continues to grow and countries like Italy are taking extreme measures such as canceling sporting events and mass gatherings.

But what does it feel like if you really have the virus? Actually, if you are not part of the population at risk and do not have specific health problems, you may not even know you have it. This is what happened to the protagonist of this story.

Bridget Wilkins flew from London to Brisbane via Singapore last week and is now in the hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, but says she had no idea she had it.

So this coronavirus-affected patient has urged others to “calm down” after stating that she doesn’t even know how she contracted the virus, and that only feeling it alone is comparable to symptoms with a “prolonged cold.”

Wilkins, a resident of the English capital, flew back to her homeland in Australia for a friend’s wedding. That was last week and she is now isolated in the Brisbane hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 29-year-old woman, on the one hand, recognizes that this is a serious outbreak, but for a very specific part of the population. What he does not share is the “exaggeration and hysteria” that he feels is getting out of control.

“The message I would like to convey to the world is that maybe someone already has it, and they are very common symptoms, such as headaches, sore throats or just being tired, ” he said.

In fact, she thought what she had was simply exhaustion from travelling for more than 30 hours. Now, she continues to have symptoms, but nothing else.

“It certainly isn’t as serious as some headlines are doing. I didn’t think I had coronavirus. I thought I had jetlag, ”he told The Mirror newspaper .

Bridget was forced to miss her friend’s wedding and explained to 7NEWS that she “has no idea” when, where, and how she contracted the virus.

He hopes to leave the hospital this week and says he believes that most people will recover normally from the disease.

“There is a lot of hype and hysteria in the news about the coronavirus. On the one hand it makes sense because it is very serious, especially for the elderly and people with existing conditions.

But I think we have to calm down, because for most people, like me, it’s just a long cold that we can overcome.

I think there are many more serious conditions that deserve the headlines and attention. ” added.

However, it does not hurt to take basic hygiene measures. Washing the taps more regularly is one of the most listened to tips, but you should not empty the supermarkets and store basic products as if it were the apocalypse. This hurts elderly and low-income people who make their purchases day by day.
