Dipika Gupta of Kavi Kavi Talks about Why Vegan Skincare Is Healthier

Once perceived as something for the overly health-conscious, the vegan lifestyle is now one of the hottest lifestyle trends. In fact, it was first recognized in 2019, which is why the year was declared the Year of the Vegans. This trend shows no signs of going back in the long term, and it has had a ripple effect as demand for vegan things spills over into other industries. Dipika Gupta is a successful Canadian fashion designer with a fantastic line of vegan cosmetics and skincare products, and she talks about why sustainable skincare is the key to healthier-looking skin.

KAVI KAVI came into existence with one precise idea; its spirit is that of being a responsible and honest company that reflects its deeply held values and commitment to creating quality, ethical fashion that positively impacts the world. Dipika is a lifelong vegetarian who does not use leather or fur in her designs. Her skincare is paraben-free and has no negative influence on the environment. Moreover, since she comes from a fusion of two strong South Asian and North American cultures, she’s versatile yet has strong ethical values.

Vegan makeup and skincare contain no animal or animal-derived ingredients and are often used interchangeably with the term “cruelty-free” (which means not tested on animals). Dipika explains some of the key benefits that you can enjoy when you switch to vegan cosmetics:

No toxins and harmful ingredients

Because our skin absorbs much of what we put on it (up to 60% in many cases), avoiding products that contain chemicals, toxins, and harmful ingredients is essential. Dipika says that vegan skincare generally has fewer ingredients, including parabens and artificial fragrances, which can irritate skin or worsen existing conditions. And because there are fewer ingredients, it’s easier to know precisely what you’re putting on your skin.

Vegan products from plant extracts and essential oils are rich in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. She explains that these nutrients nourish your skin and keep it looking and feeling fresher for longer.

Improve the quality of your skin

Vegan skincare is predominantly derived from plant-based ingredients such as seeds, leaves, roots, and essential oils. “Effective for all skin types, these natural formulations provide soothing and anti-aging benefits for your skin,” says Dipika.

Vitamins and antioxidants, particularly the raw, unprocessed variety, help provide your skin with natural protection against pollution and environmental damage. Dipika suggests they’re also packed with nourishing butter and oils, which help to gently cleanse the skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple.

Gentle on sensitive skin

Many harsh chemicals in traditional skin care products (like parabens and artificial fragrances) irritate the skin. Worse, these ingredients are often nothing more than bulking agents, meaning they serve no real purpose. Dipika says that vegan skincare products use ingredients that are safer and less likely to irritate, which is why the end result is healthy and happy skin!

Vegan skincare and cosmetic products can be highly beneficial for your skin. In fact, vegan ingredients like garlic, aloe vera, mint, and ginger are known for their healing properties. Dipika says that less exposure to harsh artificial ingredients encourages natural collagen production, resulting in healthier, more youthful-looking skin.

After success in the North American region, she plans to introduce her sustainable brand KAVI KAVI globally to attract more customers toward her ethical fashion and beauty ideas.
