Top 3 Things to Keep In Mind When Creating and Designing Fashion Wear, According to the famous influencer Nikita Karizma

Nikita Karizma is a British-Indian fashion designer who runs her namesake designer brand. Nikita designs fashion wear, contemporary clothing, fashion & lifestyle products under her label.

Nikita shares that whether you want to work in mass-market, ready-to-wear, or high fashion or haute couture, all fashion designers must have a fundamental understanding of art, design, and the fashion business. She believes that fashion, like other creative forms, is a means of expressing oneself. Fashion is more than simply what you wear; it’s also how you wear it and the visual tale it conveys. So as a designer, your goal is to create something that other people will like wearing.

Here are three things that Nikita suggests to emerging fashion designers.

1. It’s not just glamour!

Highlighting the hard work and dedication demanded by the field of fashion, Nikita shares that fashion is never simple, and it isn’t always glamorous, as many people assume. She emphasized that a lot of hard labor, strict deadlines, last-minute adjustments, and sleepless nights lurk underneath the glitz. In such an atmosphere, only real enthusiasm, a good dosage of self-motivation, and the desire to go the additional mile to achieve one’s creative goals are required.

2. Study fashion trends

Although a fashion degree is not required to design clothing, having a basic understanding of art, creation, and the fashion industry will help you get started as a clothing designer. Nikita’s fashion degree and eventually creating a successful designer label inspires the emerging artists that even if they don’t know how to produce clothing physically, they should attend a sewing or pattern-making lesson, or a drawing class if they are not comfortable with sketching or computer-aided design. Even fashion history lessons might help you get ideas for new designs. Study current fashion shows and periodicals to become familiar with the latest fashion trends.

3. Start smart, not small!

Nikita launched her designer brand with a £2000 order from Little Mix after completing a degree in Fashion Design & Development. She used the fashion pieces she created during the course of her degree to meet the requirements of the first order. She shows upcoming designers that start smart, not small. At the start of your career, you aim to get as much experience as possible. Inquire about topics, reach out to colleagues, and look for mentors. To better understand the goods you want to make and the consumers you want to serve, look for internships or entry-level employment. You will push each other to develop better things if you surround yourself with others who share your enthusiasm and passion. And most individuals want to be around people who are enthusiastic about their work.
