Indie rock infiltrated the music industry in the early 1970s. With its DIY attitude, low-budget production, and amalgamation of punk rock, psychedelia, post-punk, and country, “indie rock” isn’t just a genre; it’s a movement. Yvonne Doll, a passionate musician, fine artist, and tech professional, is a part of this movement and creates magic with her voice.
Yvonne, The Locals‘ lead singer, is a fine artist and musician from Cincinnati, OH, who studied at the prestigious institution, The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She has a successful career as a design director in addition to pursuing her career as a musician and fine artist. Her mother, also a musician, instilled a passion for music in her at a young age. Yvonne had a solo career for six years before the formation of The Locals. It wasn’t until she enlisted local musicians to back her on her debut album, “Bliss,” that she realized how much she wished for her own band.
In its current lineup, the band has Colin Mercer, on bass, and features Aaron Coleman on drums. With its irresistible sparkle, the outstanding power indie-rock group is conquering hearts. Many admirers agree that The Locals are a brilliant example of how a traditional lineup of guitar, bass, and drums brings life to the simple beauty of a well-crafted song.
The Locals recently launched a new album, “Minutes, Seconds, Degrees,” consisting of catchy beats and soulful lyrics. Even though the band is simply Yvonne and her two pals, the magical trio has a powerful sound and offers a fantastic mix of radio-friendly and non-standard melodies. They’re a breath of fresh air with an alternative atmosphere from the early 1990s.
Not only have The Locals had the honor to share the stage with some notable musicians, but Yvonne also got featured as one of the “Top 10 Female Guitarists you should know” in Guitar Player Magazine. Their albums are reviewed by well-known critics and always garner a note of appreciation as everybody loves the vintage touch in their music.
